RECRUITMENT PROCESS
1 Need Assessed
Need for recruiting staff assessed by Human Resources Manager in conjunction with Production Manager and Department Head.
2 Reference Check
Reference checks are carried out on all prospective employees. These are done telephonically by the Human Resources Manager.
3 Employment Commences
3.1 Orientation
On the first day of employment all new employees will undergo an orientation process which includes the following:
Introductory presentation - HR Manager
Documents for completion- HR Manager
Plant Tour - HR Manager
Quality System - QA Manager
Health & Safety - H & S Representative
Personnel Request Form
If additional/replacement staff are required a "Personnel Request Form" will be completed by the Human Resources Manager after consultation with the Department Head.
The Form details the following:
1. Reasons for requesting personnel
2. Experience & qualifications required
3. Structure of employment
4. Proposed wage level
The Form is then authorized by the Production Manager
Review Resumes
Review resumes on hand.
If resumes are insufficient or not of the right caliber will then make decision to advertise.
Advertise
Advertising for positions will be done by the Human Resources Manager.
The medium to be used for advertising will depend on the level of the position and he availability of candidates.
1 Internet
Company Web Site - for all positions
www.jobbank.gc.ca - for all positions, if necessary, no charge.
www.jobshop.ca - for Management, Senior Staff and Specialist positions, $68.00 per posting.
2 Newspaper
Local newspaper - for entry level/junior positions.
Newspapers in bigger centers - for Management, Senior Staff and Specialist positions.
Shortlist
The Human Resources Manager generates a shortlist of suitable candidates.
Interview
All interviews are conducted by the Human Resources Manager.
An interview questionnaire is completed by the HR Manager during each interview.
All candidates are rated according to specific criteria.
Department Heads will sometimes be involved in the interview process and the Production Manager will assist with interviewing for senior positions.
